So, I’m not going to lie, I used to not “get” DJing. What’s the point of playing other people’s music when I can play my own stuff? But anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock knows that Portland has a huge and thriving DJ scene and a lot of my friends are great DJs. I eventually figured out that DJing is the art of curation. Great DJs can weave many different songs into one big cohesive unit that (hopefully) keeps people dancing! When thought of that way I feel like it becomes a whole world of possibilities that I’m still exploring and hopefully will be able to continue to explore. I’ll be DJing this Friday at No Fun on Hawthorne and I’m really excited! I’ll be spinning a lot of 80s inspired Euro-Electro stuff, I’m hoping to make it sound like a cross between a John Hughes and John Carpenter soundtrack and super dancey. Hope you can make it!
