To me there was always something special about Mitch Mitchells playing. I’ve always loved drummers who could hang with larger than life front people which Mitch could definitely do when he played with Hendrix...I also love the way that he (as well as a lot of amazing drummers from that era) melded jazz drumming and the new rock style together into something new and fresh. He died (right here in Portland on tour btw) not too long ago but I’ll always have huge respect for him and love his playing.
